SPX PPC - Drain Valves & Dessicant Dryers
All compressed air systems produce internal condensate that, if not properly drained, can cause equipment damage, downtime and wasted man-hours. Drain valves automatically discharge accumulated fluids from air compressors, after coolers, filters, dryers, drip-legs, receivers, separators and other collection points. A drain valve should be installed at each of these liquid collection points. The installation of drain valves will ensure a compressed air system free from the damaging effects of liquid and sludge.

CAB Series dryers use atmospheric blowers to deliver 100% inlet-to-outlet compressed air capacity and superior energy efficiency. Everyone knows, heat rises. Our legendary down flow drying process takes advantage of that principle. In regeneration mode, atmospheric air, stored heat of adsorption and a high-efficiency external heater combine to evacuate the collected water vapor. Operating at full, design load conditions, inlet-to-outlet air volume remains constant and -40°F (-40°C) pressure dew points are produced.
CAB Series dryers deliver superior efficiency by design.

Pneumatic Products Heat-Les™ drying technology is the model of simplicity and the origin of the most common design in use today. CHA Series compressed air and gas dryers offer versatility of application as they excel in hostile environments where corrosive, toxic or explosive elements exist. Everyone knows, heat rises. Our legendary down flow drying process takes advantage of that principle in storing the heat of adsorption. In regeneration mode, a side-stream of dried process air with an affinity for moisture, leverages the heat of adsorption to dry the off-line desiccant chamber. Exceptional dew point stability to -100°F (-73°C) can be achieved.

The high area PPC particulate filter cartridge has been designed for use as an afterfilter downstream of regenerative desiccant dryers or downstream of activated carbon bed adsorbers. All such adsorbers tend to generate small quantities of dust particles, one micrometer and larger. These abrasive contaminants erode instruments, valve seats, air cylinders, and pneumatic tools. The PPC filter can also be used prior to coalescers prolonging the life of the more costly coalescer. The PPC afterfilter, with an absolute particle rating of 0.9 micrometers, prevents these fine particles from entering the compressed air or gas stream. Stopping particles before they enter the stream means sustained system performance, longer component life, and reduced maintenance and downtime. The PPC high temperature afterfilter is designed to perform in the same manner and efficiency as the low temperature afterfilter with one difference — the media is glass fiber. This allows use of the filter downstream of heat-reactivated dryers. During this type of dryer regeneration, temperatures typically reach 450°F. Standard dryer afterfilters of epoxy coated cellulose fibers quickly deteriorate under these extreme temperatures.

The Super High Efficiency Coalescing Filters (SHECF) are designed to remove liquid aerosols from compressed air and gas streams. Located upstream of air dryers, coalescing filters intercept liquid aerosols and coalesce them into larger droplets which are easily removed by gravity. These larger droplets pass through the filter medium and drain into the filter housing sump. Periodically, the housing sump is drained by an automatic drain valve. The purpose of locating the coalescing filter upstream of the desiccant air dryer is to remove liquids which the dryer is unable to remove. In eliminating liquids from compressed air and gas streams, the SHECF prevents erosion and clogging of the air system and protects the desiccant from liquid fouling.
